1950’s Hood Ornament-Police

Late 1950’s to 1960’s Police “STOP” Hood sign. This is a brand new, never mounted NON-REPRODUCTION hood sign that would have been mounted on bigger city police cars in Michigan. While the Michigan State Police has these signs and they are the most recognizable, larger city police agencies in Michigan used the same type of signs, however they said “Police-STOP-Police” instead of “State STOP Police” that the troopers use. I have seen very few state police signs and these are even more rare. Most are reproductions and not real.
This sign is 100% authentic and came from a larger municipality that had it in storage. The paint is 100% new and as you can see, the light housing is BRASS, not Aluminum and it houses a light bulb NOT and LED.
I had the sign professionally mounted on a piece of wood and it was originally wired to active the lights. The wiring is still their If someone wishes to have it rewired, however it looks awesome sitting on the wood it’s been affixed to.
