Vintage Polish Folk Art Wood Plates Set of 3 – Hand Carved with Brass and Copper Inlay 70’s/80’s
Hangar included on each plate. Made in Poland from Linden wood. Cut and shaped on a lathe by hand. Designs created by pyrography which is when the design is burned into the wood then painted after staining and varnishing.
(2) 11” plates: Syrenka Mermaid Warszawa – brass inlay: Design depicts the mermaid, Syrenka, is Warsa Poland’s coat of arms. This plate is in excellent vintage condition. Krakow – brass and copper inlay: Design depicts Saint Mary’s Basilica is a Brick Gothic church adjacent to the Main Market Square in Kraków, Poland. This plate is in good vintage condition with some areas of wear commensurate with age (see pictures). There is also a small split in the wood along a seam but does not affect the overall integrity of the plate (see picture).
