What is one instance?

A WordPress instance refers to a single installation of a WordPress site. It refers to each individual website where the plugin is active. In the case of a single site WordPress, each website will be counted as a single instance.
License is linked to the domain of the WordPress instance, so if you have dev-staging-prod type of environment then you will require 3 licenses of the plugin (with discounts applicable on pre-production environments) .

What is SCIM ?

System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) allows automated user provisioning and also involves the process of creating, updating, and deleting user accounts in multiple applications and systems. It is an Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution that manages and maintains an end user’s identity and user attributes in relation to accessing resources available in one or more systems.

How does SCIM Provisioning and Deprovisioning Works ?

SCIM provisioning enables automating the process of provisioning and de-provisioning of user identities. It is a REST and JSON-based protocol that defines a client and server role. A client is usually a service that contains user identities. A server is usually a SaaS app, like your WordPress site, that needs a subset of information from those identities. According to the SCIM protocol, whenever an identity is created, updated, or deleted in the SCIM client, the changes are automatically synced to the SCIM server.
